Afroville Khwai Campsite is more than a place to sleep — it is a base for travellers who want to experience Khwai in a simple, authentic and independent way.

Set in the Khwai area of Botswana, Afroville is built around the kind of safari we love: arriving in your own 4x4, settling beneath the trees, hearing the bush around you and having the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Our campsite remains intentionally uncomplicated. We offer approximately seven camping sites, shared ablutions with hot/warm water, braai facilities, firewood, electricity, charging points and free Wi‑Fi. For guests who want to travel lighter, our three fitted safari dome tents add an easy, comfortable way to stay close to nature.

We can also arrange mokoro rides, giving guests another way to slow down and experience the waterways and landscapes that make this part of Botswana special.

Self-drive camping

BWP 400 per person / night

Pull in beneath the trees, set up your own camp and let Khwai set the pace. Afroville gives self-drive travellers a relaxed bush base with the essentials close at hand and the freedom to make the campsite their own for the night.

Ideal for rooftop tents, ground tents and independent 4x4 travellers. Shared ablutions have hot/warm water, with tap water available for washing. Electricity, charging points, free Wi‑Fi, firewood and braai stands are available at camp.

Children: ages 0–5 stay free; ages 6–13 are half price.

Bedded safari dome tent with real beds and chairs

Bedded Safari Dome Tent

BWP 850 per person / night

Arrive in Khwai with less to unpack. Our safari dome tents offer a comfortable retreat in the bush, combining the atmosphere of camping with a ready-made place to settle in after a day of exploring.

Each dome is furnished with comfortable beds and includes solar lamps, chairs and a table. We currently have three bedded safari dome tents available.

Please note: the children's discount offered for normal camping does not apply to the bedded safari dome tents.

Mokoro experience

BWP 350 per person / hour

Trade the road for the water and experience the Delta at a quieter pace. A mokoro ride brings you closer to the channels, reeds, birdlife and changing scenery from a completely different perspective.

Mokoro rides are arranged at BWP 350 per person for one hour. Add the experience to your campsite or safari dome booking so we can arrange it together with your stay.

Good to know: Tap water is available for washing but is not for drinking. There is no fuel station in Khwai, so arrive with enough fuel for your stay and onward travel.
